1. Hakarimedon The representative local gourmet food of Futtsu is ``Hakarime-don’’. “Hakarime” refers to conger eel, a specialty of Futtsu. The name comes from the spots on the side of the conger that resemble the scales on old stick scales. The Hakarime-don is made with plump conger eel topped with sweet and spicy sauce, and is so delicious that it melts in your mouth.

2. Bakagai (Aoyagi) cuisine Futtsu is also famous as a production area for Bakakai (Aoyagi). It is popular as sashimi and sushi topping, but the local ways of eating it are namero'' and kakiage.’’ The crunchy texture and aroma of the ocean are irresistible, making it the perfect accompaniment to alcohol.

3. Fresh fried horse mackerel Speaking of Boso Peninsula, it is delicious fried horse mackerel. You can also enjoy thick and crispy fried horse mackerel at restaurants around Futtsu. Because we use fresh horse mackerel that was just landed on the same day, there is no odor at all, and the flesh is fluffy. In addition to sauce, it is also delicious served with soy sauce or tartar sauce.

4. Seafood grilled (hamayaki) Hamayaki-style restaurants, where you grill fresh seafood yourself on a grill, are also popular. The experience of grilling live shellfish such as turban shells, clams, and scallops on the stove and stuffing your mouth with them piping hot is a real pleasure that can only be found in a port town.
